What exactly is Hugh Grant’s freak-show era?

    Hugh Grant is famous for his starring roleHauptrollestarring roles in romantic comedies, known as “romcoms”. Now, he’s returning to one of his best roles, as the roguishgaunerhaftroguish Daniel Cleaver, in the new Bridget Jones film, Mad About the Boy, which is being released: be ~in die Kinos kommenreleased in Germany on 27 February 2025. Grant told Vanity Fair that he co-wrote some of his scenes in the film. He described them as “very funny and very, very moving”.

    Now aged 64, Grant, who comes from London, acted in several successful romantic and period dramahistorischer Film, Kostümdramaperiod dramas before Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) shot him to world fame. However, he continued to star in other hit movies, including Notting Hill (1999), Love Actually (2003) and the Bridget Jones films (2001, 2004). 

    Grant has more recently moved away from romcoms to play less likeable characters. He describes this new period of his career as being his “freak-show era”.
