Population decline​

About half of U.S. cities are experiencing population decline. A new study has found that, by the year 2100, almost 15,000 cities will have lost up to 23 percent of their residents, with those in the Northwest and Midwest most heavily to affectbetreffen​affected. Researchers told Scientific American that the population decline is a result of factors such as a lower birthrate, industry loss, rising property prices, and the climate crisis. Cities must prepare for the challenges that these changes will bring.
