The game’s creator, Anthony E. Pratt, was a British musician, born in 1903, who enjoyed detective fiction and real-life crime stories. He played the piano on cruise ships and at country houses, where murder mystery role-plays were popular. In 1943, he had an idea for a new boardgame.
Pratt created ten characters, all of whom were suspectVerdächtige(r)suspects in a country-house murder. Players moved from room to room, asking questions to identify the killer, weapon and location. Pratt called his game Murder! and sold it in 1945 to the British company Waddingtons. Marketed as Cluedo, it became a big hit.
There have been many adaptationhier: Varianteadaptations and versions since then, with new characters, video and computer games, TV and film spin-offAblegerspin-offs. But what matters most in Cluedo remains the same: logical deduction.
